Presidente Indotel aborda retos de inclusión digital durante Cumbre Regulatel en Colombia
Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.- El presidente del Consejo Directivo del Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (Indotel), Guido Gómez Mazara, al participar en la Cumbre Regulatel 2024, abordó los retos de la inclusión digital, y destacó que la brecha digital no es solo una cuestión tecnológica, sino una manifestación de exclusión que afecta principalmente los sectores más vulnerables.
Durante su intervención en el panel “Principios para guiar el desarrollo del ecosistema y los mercados digitales actuales con enfoque del usuario en el centro”, realizado en la referida cumbre, Gómez Mazara indicó que, el Indotel tiene la misión de orientar los recursos hacia los sectores históricamente excluidos de la República Dominicana.
“Hemos incrementado nuestro presupuesto en el Indotel, pero no basta con tener los recursos; debemos asegurarnos de que estos se utilicen de manera estratégica y que lleguen a los sectores más vulnerables de nuestra nación, y nosotros, los países de la región, debemos identificar los segmentos más empobrecidos de la población para que tengan acceso a la tecnología”, explicó.
El presidente de Indotel citó un reciente estudio de la Cepal que revela que, aunque la República Dominicana es un país bien conectado, solo el 23 % de la población cuenta con conectividad significativa. Frente a este desafío, Gómez Mazara subrayó la implementación de programas orientados a promover la formación técnica para jóvenes, la ciberseguridad para niñas y adultos mayores, y el fortalecimiento de herramientas digitales del sector público para garantizar mayor confiabilidad y protección a los ciudadanos.
Además, resaltó la implementación de la Lista Electrónica de Confianza, una herramienta innovadora que asegura el reconocimiento internacional de firmas digitales y fortalece la infraestructura tecnológica del país. Esta iniciativa posiciona a la República Dominicana como un referente en seguridad jurídica digital para ciudadanos, empresas y el sector público.
Asimismo, la directora ejecutiva del Indotel, Julissa Cruz, participó en el panel “Pasos a seguir para la implementación eficiente de la mejora regulatoria en América Latina”, donde enfatizó la importancia de desarrollar políticas públicas inclusivas y eficientes. “Cerrar la brecha digital no solo fomenta la equidad social, sino que también impulsa el desarrollo económico sostenible en República Dominicana”, afirmó Cruz.
La participación del Indotel en la Cumbre Regulatel 2024 refuerza el liderazgo de la República Dominicana en el ámbito regional y su compromiso con la transformación digital.
